Why We Need A Seizure Alert Dog

This Holiday Season, please consider giving the gift of hope, rest and peace of mind to a family. If we had 13,000 people donate just $1 dollar, Aaliyah could have her Seizure Alert Dog.

The Jest_Tu_Positive Life

Our first Guest Post is written by a dear friend. Georgean is an amazing woman and extraordinary mom. Her one daughter, Aaliyah has a very rare form of epilepsy, and they are trying to raise the funds to get her a Seizure Alert Dog.

If you would like to help this inspiring family with their fundraising to give Aaliyah a Seizure Alert Dog, you can buy Tupperware from the Online Fundraiser on FaceBook, or make monetary donations at 4 Paws for Ability page for Aaliyah.

Here is “Why We Need a Seizure Alert Dog” from a Mommy’s perspective:

Aaliyah is our beautiful and joyful 9 year old daughter who has been battling epilepsy since immediately after her 3 month vaccinations.  I remember her first seizure like it was yesterday, she was crying for a very long time and we just couldn’t do anything for her. Her daddy was…

Community Christmas Outreach

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~Leo Buscaglia

Can you find it in your heart, to help turn a life around this Christmas?

The Jest_Tu_Positive Life

I have been praying for sometime, to find our first path for helping others, on this amazing journey. Today I find my feet firmly planted on the path, and ready to explore the possibilities ahead. Our application has been approved, and I am thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with the The Crisis Center for South Suburbia, for our first Community Outreach. Our goal is to bring Love, Joy and Hope to families, affected by Domestic Violence, this Christmas.

Community Christmas Outreach

Domestic Violence is something that usually demoralizes its victims. It causes the abused parent to live in constant fear, while robbing the children of their innocence and hope. Often times, the emotional damage is far greater than the physical injuries; which is why some never fully recover their self-esteem and faith in others. We want to help this extraordinary organization in their goal of “Safety, strength and hope for victims…

Nevus Sebaceous

One of the most recent events in our life is Beth’s upcoming surgery. If you would like to continue on our journey with us, please visit our new page: The Jest_Tu_Positive Life.

The Jest_Tu_Positive Life

When Beth was born, she had a mark on her face. At first we thought it was a birthmark, but our doctor thought perhaps it could be a rash. As time went on, and it’s texture did not change, he sent us to see a Plastic Surgeon. The surgeon informed us that it was a Nevus Sebaceous, which would eventually need to be removed.

A Nevus Sebaceous is basically an abnormal overgrowth of the sebaceous glands, which typically appears on the scalp, face or neck. The majority of cases do not require treatment, beyond monitoring; however, when a child hits puberty the nevus can change. Since the sebaceous glands are oil producing glands, they tend to go into overdrive during puberty. At this time the Nevus Sebaceous can grow, change in texture, or in a very small number of cases become cancerous.

We have been visiting Beth’s Plastic Surgeon one…

New Journey

Hello friends, it is nice to see you again. I know it has been much too long since I have shared anything with you. I am sorry for my absence, but as usual life has been crazy and time tends to just get away from me.

Amidst the craziness, I have been working on a new blog, which is still a work in progress, but has been launched nonetheless.  The Jest_Tu_Positive Life ©  is where the majority of my future posts will be. At this point I am not sure if this blog will remain separate, or be merged with the new one. The only thing I am certain of, is that although Autism adds color to all aspects in our life, it is not the center of it, so I want to put it in it’s proverbial place. Our family may be different, but we are also very similar to all the other families in the world; therefore, the new blog with focus on life in general, with our Autistic Attributes interwoven for a taste of the rainbow that lights our journey.

If you would like to read about the new page, please visit the About page, hosted by WordPress, or our Facebook page. I pray that you will join us on this new path in our journey, which is is based on Faith, Love and Respect for ALL. We Accept and Celebrate everyone for the Unique and Diverse Human Beings they are, and hope that we can help others see life in a more positive manner, and be proud of the amazing individuals they are.

TAWL ~ Oklahoma Recovery Project

tawl ok project list

To Autism With Love is doing what they do best, they are helping families in need.  One of their admins lives very close to the devastation caused by storms and tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma.  She has committed to helping those effected by the storms and their path of destruction.  As part of their Oklahoma Recovery Project, TAWL is requesting assistance to collect desperately needed items to aide families who are displaced by the storms.

Normally, I am not one to volunteer or jump in to offer help, because our life is not conducive to such things. Every time I have attempted to organize or assist in something to benefit others, I have had to back out before completion, and end up feeling like I failed everyone. I vow to make this time different, and I will complete the task, because the families in Oklahoma deserve it!

Fortunately, there is already an extraordinary group of people in Chicago, who go out and help those in need after natural disasters. They left for their first run to Moore today, but will be back to collect more donations before leaving again on June 10th to return to Oklahoma and deliver fresh supplies. They have agreed to take all that I can collect, on their next trip.

The group here in Chicago, as well as TAWL and all their supporters, are truly Angels who walk among us. Please help them give the gift of love, support and hope to the many families living amongst devastation.  If you are in the Chicagoland area, I am willing to pick up donations, and deliver them to this wonderful group, before they head out for their second run. I will need all donations by Friday June 7th, so that I can deliver them on Saturday June 8th. You can contact me at or via our FaceBook page.

If you are not in the Chicagoland area, but would like to donate items or funds, please visit TAWL’s Website or FaceBook Page. Also, if you are a page admin and would like to get involved with TAWL’s efforts, please contact them at

Also The Oklahoma Relief Run crew is in desperate need of gas cards. They are hoping to take several trucks on the June 10th run, which will require thousands of dollars in gas to get them there and back, while helping with clean-up efforts. **Fundraising link is live**

May God bless all those affected by the destruction in Oklahoma. May His Angels watch over and guide all the wonderful people who are willing to help these families rebuild their lives; and move forward surrounded by love, support and hope.

**Additional Note: Donations of gently used clothing will also be accepted. Please wash it before donating, and I will gladly come pick it up.**

***Link added for Oklahoma Relief Run, the group from Chicago who will be delivering items from all the generous people in the Chicagoland area.***

Graduation 2013

On May 17, 2013 my husband will graduate college with an Associates of Applied Science degree and an Associates of Art degree, both in Criminal Justice. He started his College journey a month before his 18th birthday, and he will be 31years old when he graduates. It has been a long road for him, laden with countless obstacles and many scenic routes. He has been discouraged, felt like a failure, and assumed he could not do it; however, he yearned to finish college and obtain a degree. Eventually he found his courage, began to feel successful, and determined that he could do it; and now he is graduating with not one, but two degrees.

The last few semesters have not been easy; honestly, they were more difficult than we ever imagined. Being a father of 2 young children (one with Special Needs), working 40+ hours a week to support our family, and going to school proved to be quite the challenge. However if there is one thing I know about my husband, it is that he ALWAYS rises to a challenge and finds a way to CONQUER it.

On Friday evening I will watch him graduate; while taking lots of pictures to show our girls what an AMAZING man their daddy is. I am so very PROUD of him and all that he has accomplished. He is showing our girls that when you have a dream, you should pursue it until you have achieved your goal. He is teaching our girls that it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to fulfill your dreams; what matters is that you do it with integrity, and in a manner of which you can be proud. He is proving to our girls that ANYTHING is POSSIBLE, with determination and hard-work; which is truly one the GREATEST gifts a parent can give a child.

CONGRATULATIONS to my Husband, who overcame his doubts and fears, and is obtaining his degrees in 2013.  This is a GREAT year for you, and a major building block in the foundation of our life. You are an AMAZING inspiration, and a source of tremendous PRIDE to many! Our girls are truly BLESSED to have such a wonderful, hard-working father who embraces dreams and turns them into reality. Our family will achieve many EXTRAORDINARY things in life, because you will always be there to help us make our dreams come true. Thank You for all that you are, and all that you do! I LOVE YOU!
